As long as I’m on an elevated railroad theme: that’s Chatham Square, looking north. The tracks coming in from the lower left are the Second Avenue El coming from City Hall over Park Row; the tracks in the lower center are the Third Avenue El coming from South Ferry over Pearl Street; the tracks at the upper center are the Third Avenue El going up the Bowery towards Third Avenue; and the barely-visible tracks heading off to the upper right are the Second Avenue El going up Division Street towards Allen Street and then First Avenue.
In short, the two lines crossed here.
