by Don Friedman on October 10, 2016

If you’re familiar with the history of architecture in New York you can pick out the landmarks in this engraving: the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, Williamsburg Bridge, Castle Clinton, the Washington Building, the West Street Building, the Woolworth Building, the Singer Building, the S.S. Mauritania, and so on, and so on.

But the most interesting part to me is that twelve years after the Wright Brothers’ first flight, an aerial view is still being called a “bird’s-eye view.”
