Big Projects

Crains has a list of proposed big projects for New York. Interesting stuff.

It’s worth pointing out that if these all went ahead simultaneously, it would not be as big an urban transformation as the one the city had between 1900 and 1920, when three huge bridges were completed over the East River, four major subway lines were completed in Manhattan alone, Grand Central Terninal and Pennsylvania Station opened, and hundreds of steel-framed mid-rise apartment houses created what we still think of today as the peak of New York housing.
