Marie is a licensed Professional Engineer with 35 years of experience as a consulting structural engineer. She has in-depth expertise in the evaluation, repair, strengthening, and alteration of existing structures as well as the design of new buildings. Along with Donald Friedman, she founded Old Structures Engineering to focus on structural engineering consultation and historical preservation for landmarked, historic and existing structures. She has presented at conferences and has lectured at Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of articles for technical publications and professional societies.

Don is a licensed Professional Engineer with 30 years of experience as a structural engineer. Throughout his career, he has worked extensively on both the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing structures. Along with Marie Ennis, he founded Old Structures Engineering to focus on structural engineering consultation and historical preservation for landmarked, historic and existing structures. He has taught at the Pratt Institute, the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute School of Architecture, and the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation. He has presented at conferences; authored numerous articles for technical publications and professional societies; and has written five books related to construction, renovation and engineering.

Michael Lo, PE

Michael is a licensed Professional Engineer with 26 years of experience as a structural engineer. Throughout his career, he has worked extensively on both the construction of new buildings and the renovation of existing structures. He has worked at Old Structures since 2011 and has been a Principal since 2015. Previously, he was an Associate at Gilanz Murray Steficek from 2005-2012 and an Associate at Einhorn Yaffee Prescott from 1996-2004. In his current position, he consults with architects and building owners on structural and building envelope issues in historic buildings.

Shaquana has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Hartford College of Engineering. She has been an integral part of OSE since 2007 and has extensive knowledge of structural issues involved in historic and existing buildings.

Ashley joined OSE in September of 2016. She has a B.A. in Anthropology from Beloit College. Her previous experience includes 4 years in non-profit fundraising and 17 years as a hand-tinted plasterer. She is proud of her Vermont upbringing and once had a cow named after her.
